how does the process work?
Reverse engineering is a process that, by using a three-dimensional scan and the subsequent data processing done with a dedicated software, allows the digitization of a physical object.
VSystem, having a modern optical scanner with interference fringes, is able to perform reverse engineering on individual components when is needed to obtain a mathematical model, or in whole vehicles where it is necessary to know their configuration and dimensions.
The data obtained from the optical scans (mesh in.stl format) can be cleaned, optimized and if necessary symmetrized, in order to obtain mathematical models in. stp or . igs format which can be used for prototypes manufacturing, tools construction or in some cases finite element analysis.
Our technical department can also support customers by developing the 2D drawings of digitized components and assisting them for building functional prototypes.
