At the end of October, Vsystem held one of its periodic test sessions for the attainment and/or renewal of qualifications by staff employed in the welding department, in accordance with standard EN ISO 9606. In addition to existing certifications, all confirmed, new certifications have been attained for tee joints in stainless steel, as well as for a new range of titanium alloy thicknesses.
At the same time, the company took the opportunity to extend the qualification of its internal welding processes (WPQR), also qualifying butt joints in nickel alloy and duplex steel, materials deemed strategically important for our company.
WPQR stands for “Welding Procedure Qualification Report” and refers to a document that qualifies the operating methods relating to a specific welding process. It is the official document issued by a certifying body and details the fields in which the company is qualified (processes, thicknesses, filler materials) and the technical welding parameters used to produce test samples, as well as providing a summary of all mechanical and non-destructive tests carried out by the laboratory.
Ensuring that the staff and processes involving in welding are accredited according to EN ISO 9606 and EN ISO 15614 is essential in order to operate in conformity with EN ISO 3834-2. This is a qualification that Vsystem obtained in June 2021 and that defines the quality standards for the fusion welding of metal materials.
Vsystem is once again supported on this new pathway by long-term partner S.T.S. Certificazioni, an accredited body that provided one of its own inspectors to evaluate the work of the welders.
Vsystem and its staff have now achieved an even higher level of specialisation, consolidated with the renewal of existing qualifications, and strengthened with the expansion of the range of certified welding processes available to clients and partners.
